Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has only just completed the signing of striker Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux, but the Sunday Express claims that he could return to the French club to sign one of the 'golden boys' of French football.
There is widespread speculation that midfield schemer Fabregas will leave for the Nou Camp and should he do so, Gourcuff is reportedly viewed as the ideal replacement for the Gunners.
The 23 year-old enjoyed an excellent season at Bordeaux, scored 9 goals and helped Laurent Blanc's side to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Gourcuff spent three years at AC Milan earlier in his career, but returned to France where he has since flourished. He was voted as the best young player in France in 2008 and is renowned for his excellent technique.
According to the Sunday Express, Wenger will hope that the signing of Chamakh will help to lure Gourcuff to Arsenal. The midfielder is set to star in the World Cup and Wenger might be tempted to make a move for Gourcuff sooner rather than later or else risk his value rising off the back of an impressive World Cup.Gourcuff has already played 16 times for Les Bleus and has scored one international goal
